Lecturer: Networking, Lecturer: Business Analysis and Lecturer: Software Development and Design (Teaching Academic Level A)

About the Role 

These Teaching Academic positions refer to the delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within the undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs in Information Technology, with a focus on Networking, Business Analysis or Software Development & Design. 

The appointees for these three separate positions will work with guidance and direction from other academic staff and undertake duties with increasing autonomy as they gain skills and experience. The appointees will use contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice and carry out activities to develop scholarly expertise.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Under direction, prepare and conduct learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students 
  • Implement innovative teaching approaches (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to promote student learning 
  • Deliver high quality teaching as demonstrated by a range of University-approved data sources (e.g. student outcomes, student feedback, peer reviews etc.)
  • Ensure teaching is informed by relevant research and industry practice in the discipline area
  • Undertake administrative duties relative to teaching activities of identified courses and programs, including the development of course and program material and coordination of a course, if required, with guidance
  • Provide quality feedback to students via approved assessment tasks
  • Provide academic counselling, mentoring and advice to students as required
  • Maintain currency and develop knowledge and scholarly expertise with the profession/discipline, including innovative teaching approaches
  • Demonstrate commitment to improving personal teaching practice, including seeking and responding to feedback (student, peers and supervisor) and implement strategies to improve practice
  • Contribute to collaborative projects relevant to discipline-based teaching practices
  • Actively participate in meetings and committees at the program and Academic Unit level
  • Actively contribute to the activities of the Academic Unit and University, particularly in relation to program planning, evaluation and administration

Essential Skills and Experience 

Lecturer: Networking

  • A Bachelor or higher degree qualification or relevant industry experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability or potential in teaching, including design and preparation of teaching activities and resources in networking
  • Communication skills including the demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues
  • Previous experience in teaching CCNA or CCNP networking
  • Previous experience in teaching enterprise-level network design

Lecturer: Business Analysis
  • A Bachelor or higher degree qualification or relevant industry experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability or potential in teaching, including design and preparation of engaging teaching activities and resources in information systems and information technology
  • Communication skills including the demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties, and colleagues
  • Experience in customer interaction and business analysis
  • Experience in project management of software/IT projects

Lecturer: Software Development and Design
  • A Bachelor or higher degree qualification or relevant industry experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability or potential in teaching, including design and preparation of teaching activities and resources in software development and design
  • Communication skills including the demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of planning, version control and project management tools
  • Understanding of contemporary industry-focused software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum and/or DevOps
