About the opportunity  

The Peer Learning Advisor will provide roving peer to peer support to students in a number of Library and other study areas. These include the Quarter, ThinkSpace, Susan Wakil Health Building (CreateSpace), and other locations as required.  This is a casual position with flexibility, working 3–5-hour weekday shifts, between 9am to 7pm.  

 

Your key responsibilities (but not limited to) will be to:  

  • facilitate relevant workshops, services, forums, and online communities to engage and help students from a range of disciplines

  • facilitate use of ThinkSpace and CreateSpace technology such as the 3D printer, 1 Button Recording Studio and Virtual Reality

  • Seek feedback and input from client groups and stakeholders to tailor service provision

  • deliver Library services using a range of technology and troubleshooting issues under guidance

  • assist in library, technology, online learning, and other support services

  • assist in developing web-based resources, technological and other services aimed at assisting and supporting students

  • day to day maintenance of the library spaces, including facilities, equipment, and technology

 

About you 

  • currently enrolled as a postgraduate or HDR student at the University of Sydney with an understanding of the student experience. With a planned completion date later than Semester 2, 2023

  • positive approach to customer service, with a commitment to ensuring clients’ needs and expectations are met

  • technology skills including the ability to pick up new systems, technology, and perform basic troubleshooting with tech in the library’s two technology spaces, ThinkSpace and CreateSpace  

  • effective problem-solving skills and ability to escalate and follow up on issues appropriately

  • demonstrated teamwork and communication skills

  • demonstrated initiative, attention to detail and prioritisation skills 

  • hold a valid Working with Children Check for staff
