Campus Life is seeking an experienced Sport Venues Operations Coordinator to lead the operations of our Sport and Recreation Venues, continuing to drive a culture of safety and ensure our venues are compliant with relevant industry guidelines. The portfolio includes the operational oversight of the Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre, The Sports Fields Complex and the University Boat Shed.

THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Coordinator to lead the Sport Venues Operations team and the Sport & Recreation physical assets, ensuring safe, compliant facilities, contractor management, event delivery and venue presentation.

Reporting to the Manager – Sport Venues Operations, the role will be an integral part of the middle management team, responsible for overseeing and coordinating operational aspects of the Macquarie University Sport Venues promoting the ongoing safe participation in our facilities.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the pool plantroom and recycled water system operations ensuring compliance with Guidelines for Safe Poll Operations (RLSA GSPO) and relevant recycled water operating approval requirements;
  • Provide direction to the Duty Managers to ensure cohesiveness, a culture of accountability, compliance and safety and help identify development, training and mentoring opportunities;
  • Monitor facilities, asset and equipment standards and coordinate repair and maintenance through service agreements, ensuring all aspects of the sport and aquatic venues are safe, well presented and maintained
  • Coordinate the delivery of operational activities that support customer bookings and events to ensure venue requirements and stakeholder agreements are implemented, U@MQ sport program needs are met and to promote positive customer experiences;
  • Plan and coordinate the Duty Manager’s team roster and timesheets ensuring the sport and aquatic venues are adequately staffed and compliant, in accordance with agreed operating hours and industry guidelines;
  • Manage recruitment, induction, training, mentoring and review of staff, ensuring adequate resourcing and team qualifications are current and records are kept;
  • Maintain the Emergency Management Plan for the sport venues to ensure operational systems and procedures meet compliance requirements, including delivery of regular staff training;

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) is a multi-purpose venue. Located at Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde, our facility includes a 6-lane heated indoor pool, and an 8-lane outdoor heated Olympic-sized swimming pool, a large Health Club, Gymnastics Hall and sports halls.

ABOUT YOU

You have a customer centric mindset combined with demonstrated leadership skills and experience in the safe operations of Sport, Aquatic and Recreation facilities combining industry knowledge and a commercial understanding of building and asset maintenance lifecycles.

In addition, you meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated skill and experience with swimming pool plant operations and blackwater recycling systems;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with an ability to influence others and work effectively in a team environment driving a positive and inclusive culture;
  • Experience in staff management including rostering, recruitment, and performance management;
  • Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Aquatic Technical Operator Certificate (SISSS00110)
  • Current Pool Lifeguard Qualification (SISSS00129)
  • Technical Operations Workplace Supervisor
