  • Salary Level HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus

About the role

The Library Makerspace enhances student learning and research by enabling students to gain hands on experience with technical tools to put learning into practice. It is a safe space where staff and students can share knowledge, explore technology, and practice bringing ideas to life.

As Library Makerspace Supervisor, you will be proactively coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Library Makerspace.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive specialist experience or broad knowledge in technical operations of Makerspace equipment such as 3D printing, laser cutters, CNC router and 3D scanning and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical equipment problems

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a busy, outcomes-oriented environment

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision and exercise initiative and independent judgement

  • Proven knowledge and application of OH&S legislation and regulations particularly regarding workshop and studio environments including safe manual handling practices

  • Demonstrated ability in coordination of staff resources

  • Experience in developing and delivering training related to a Makerspace environment

They provide flexible, networked spaces for individual and group study, computer equipped group study rooms and seminar rooms for academic and library research skills training.
