Overview:

RMIT Vietnam , an entity of RMIT University, has campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi 2001. We provide internationally recognised, high-quality, education and professional training for students, clients and the community, and assist in the development of human resources capability in Vietnam and the region by hosting students from Australia and many other countries.

Your role

Librarians are primarily responsible for providing focused library services inside the library to RMIT Vietnam students and staff at the front desk, monitoring library use, facilities, and equipment to ensure a healthy & safe environment for student. Librarians also contribute to the building and maintaining library collections as well as the development of information services across the Library.

Key accountabilities

  • Providing all library  services  during  daytime,  evenings,  weekends  and  public  holidays  as  required;  Library services  include  borrowing  and  returning;  intra-library  loans  between  SGS,  HAN,  and  MEL;  working  with  the Library Management Systems as needed; service desk administrative tasks; shelving; linking students to learning resources; and ensuring user satisfaction withal library services & resources.

  • Providing reference assistance througH physical  and  virtual  service  points  to  the  entire  RMIT community, worldwide.

  • Monitoring library spaces, noise levels, furniture, and equipment to ensure a healthy & safe environment for all users.

  • Backing up Liaison Librarians through the creative delivery, development, and presentation of innovative digital skills and literacy programs to the RMIT community.

  • Maintaining library’s physical collection along with keeping up with current and new digital collections to facilitate University learning, teaching and research; suggesting library resources in varied formats, including print and e-books along with multimedia resources; reviewing the physical condition of the collection; making decisions on replacement, withdrawal or preservation of individual titles according to library policy.

  • Developing positive working relationships among the entire RMIT community; actively marketing and promoting new services and resources; understanding the needs of the students and staff of the RMIT Vietnam community and helping tailor library services to those needs.

  • Participate in internal Library Committees regarding general library policy, strategic planning, and collaborating with library teams in Melbourne as well as represent RMIT at local library professional organization at meetings and conferences.

  • Assume administrative duties involving operational activities such as acquisitions, cataloguing, way finding, record keeping, and overall support the entire Library Team.

  • Managing and creating the  content  on  the  university's  and  the  library's  social  media  channels  (Facebook, Instagram, Yammer, etc.). And supporting in planning and managing Library's marketing campaigns.

Key selection criteria

  • Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualificationLibrary degrees preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of Library experience in an academic environment preferred.

  • Displayed knowledge of trends and best practices in customer service with anability to support students and staff in higher education.

  • Demonstrated the ability to be an active member in collaborative work teams, both locally and internationally; and able to work independently as needed.

  • Well-honed interpersonal skills including soft negotiation, cooperation, subtle persuasion, and cross-cultural communication in multi-cultural higher education environment.

  • Proven organization, planning, prioritization and time management skills.

English Proficiency

  • The minimum requirement is IELTS with a score of at least 5.5 or 150 in Linguaskills.
