Overview
The ECU Speech Pathology program is delivered in modern, state of the art facilities on the Joondalup campus of the university. Speech Pathology is part of the Allied Health Discipline, including Occupational Therapy, Paramedicine and Dietetics. We are looking for a dynamic speech pathologist with the relevant clinical and teaching experience to join our team as a Lecturer. The appointee will be an important member of the Speech Pathology team and will participate in the discipline’s speech pathology program, teaching, research and scholarly activities.  

Lecturers are subject experts who design, develop, and deliver educational material using a range of methods and platforms. They create course material, lesson plans, and curricula in order to engage with students and to facilitate their learning. A Lecturer is expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice within the program as well as the Speech Pathology research profile as part of a highly experienced teaching team at ECU. Preference will be given to people with expertise in one or more of these areas: Dysphagia (paediatric and adult), Adult Speech and Language. Other areas will be considered.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have completed a PhD or be undertaking a higher degree in an appropriate field;
  • Be a Certified Practising Member with Speech Pathology Australia (or eligible for) and have at least 5-years postgraduate experience;
  • Have prior experience in the development and delivery of research-informed teaching in tertiary education and within a speech pathology and health context; and 
  • Have demonstrated experience, and/or equivalence, in ensuring best practice in teaching, including activities related to moderation of assessments and ensuring adherence to teaching and learning policies;
  • Have a developing research track record, including research outputs;
  • Have experience in engaging in broader university service activities, including School-wide committees.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with community stakeholders including those from industry and with lived experience.
  • High a high degree of interpersonal skills, including team work and leadership, communication and negotiating skills.

This full time, ongoing position attracts remuneration of Lecturer: $110, 065 – $130,045 (Level B) 

Senior Lecturer: $134,035 - $154,013 (Level C) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
