THE ROLE

Macquarie University is seeking an experienced Academic for a teaching and research position with a focus on Early Childhood or Primary Mathematics education.

The successful applicant will engage in an active research program and supervise research students, contribute to curriculum development and teaching across the School of Education's undergraduate and postgraduate early childhood /or primary courses, engage in service activities within the University and their professional community, and contribute to the School's outreach activities.

About You

You will have completed a PhD or evidence of equivalent recognition in Mathematics education. You will demonstrate evidence of delivering high quality learning and teaching in early childhood /or primary Mathematics and will have a program of research (early childhood and/or school-based) with a track record of quality publications commensurate with the level of appointment. Previous experience teaching in early childhood or primary classroom environments is essential. Selection Criteria for Lecturer - Level B applicants:

  • A PhD or evidence of equivalent research recognition in Mathematics education;

  • Demonstrated experience in quality research/scholarship, which may be evidenced by publications and/or success in attracting research support commensurate with the level of appointment;

  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in Mathematics education, including the ability to develop scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and application to early childhood or primary classrooms;

  • Deep knowledge of NSW mathematics curriculum and demonstrated ability to teach its key concepts;

  • Demonstrated ability or potential to supervise higher degree research students;

  • Record of contributing, or capacity to contribute to administration in a university academic setting, and to interact productively within these settings;

  • Record of engagement, or capacity to engage, with relevant external stakeholders (e.g.; Department of Education, ACECQA).

Selection Criteria for Senior Lecturer - Level C applicants:

  • A PhD or evidence of equivalent research recognition in Mathematics education;

  • A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of publications in high quality journals, commensurate to the level of appointment;

  • Demonstrated ability or identifiable potential to secure research funding;

  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in Mathematics education and ability to develop and lead and/or engage in scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and application to early childhood or primary classrooms;

  • Deep knowledge of NSW mathematics curriculum and demonstrated ability to teach its key concepts;

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students;

  • Record of contributing, or capacity to contribute, to administration in a university academic setting and to interact productively within these settings;

  • Record of engagement with relevant external stakeholders.

This position may require a Working with Children Check Clearance.
