About You 


 


Lecturer 


The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School in the Discipline of Psychology. More specifically, you will make a significant contribution to the teaching of programs at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, undertake clinical supervision in the Postgraduate program, and be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional capabilities. You will also be expected to develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs. You will also actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will also be expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. You may also be responsible for course coordination. 


 


 


Senior Lecturer 


The Senior Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School in the Discipline of Psychology. You will make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, clinical supervision in the Postgraduate program, and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional capabilities, particularly within Clinical Psychology. The Senior Lecturer will develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs. You will have an important research leadership role in embedding their research expertise into the life of the School and will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across RMIT and with local, national and global, internal and external partners. You may have responsibility for program management. 


 


To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:  


Lecturer: 


  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses at undergraduate and post-graduate levels and online, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement with expertise in Clinical Psychology.  

  • Ability to undertake course coordination role. 

  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.  

  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.  

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.  

  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.  

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.  

  • Endorsement as an AHPRA-approved Clinical supervisor, with a focus on clinical psychology 


 


 


Senior Lecturer: 


  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement, with expertise in Clinical Psychology. 

  • Ability to manage a large program or a number of small programs and support student issues related to effective learning. 

  • Endorsement as an AHPRA-approved Clinical supervisor, with a focus on clinical psychology  

  • Emerging nationally recognised research track record in Clinical Psychology including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets. 

  • Experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort and manage funded research projects including complex budgets and reporting requirements.  

  • Extensive experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage academic program teams, supporting scholarly development of less experienced academic staff.  

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.  

  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment. 


 


Qualifications for both level B & C: 


Mandatory: 


  • PhD in a relevant field, (Master's degree with substantial experience might be considered) 

  • Endorsement as an AHPRA-approved registered clinical supervisor with expertise in clinical psychology. 

  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check

About the School 


 


The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences within STEM comprises three Academic Clusters (Allied Health, Applied Health, and Biomedical Sciences). Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across ten disciplines: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Human Biosciences, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Pharmacy and Psychology.
