Continuing, full-time position available from June 2022.

The Department of Media within the School of Humanities is seeking to appoint a Lecturer with expertise in strategic communication, public relations, and/or digital or social media communication.

The successful applicant will have an outstanding record of teaching in strategic communication or related fields, experience in online and mixed mode course delivery, and an emerging record of research excellence. Relevant industry experience, including up-to-date knowledge of media and communication strategy, SEO, metrics and analytics, content marketing, transmedia storytelling and/or other related specialisations, will be favorably considered.

The appointee will be expected to design, coordinate and teach industry-relevant, theoretically-informed courses in the Master of Media (Strategic Communication) and Bachelor of Media. They will also undertake high-quality research, supervise Honours, Masters coursework and Research Higher Degree students, undertake administrative and service roles as required, and positively contribute to the collegial culture of the Department.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in Media or closely aligned discipline.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence in strategic communication, public relations and/or digital or social media communication, capacity to develop new curricula in these areas, and up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry practices, standards and expectations in these fields.
  • An emerging record of research excellence, including high-quality research publications and demonstrated capacity to attract research grant and/or consultancy funding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster excellent working relations with colleagues, industry partners and key stakeholders.
