THE ROLE

The Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance, within the Macquarie Business School, delivers internationally recognised and accredited programs. These include accredited programs in Bachelor Professional Accounting, Master of Accounting and Master of Professional Accounting. We are one of the largest qualified accounting graduate providers in Australia and enjoy great support from professional bodies both in Australia and globally. We also house five research networks, publish research articles, books, book chapters and other research outlets in the areas of international accounting, management accounting, sustainability, audit and assurance, corporate governance, business law, ethics, and information systems. For services, the Department also provides out-reach activities with both businesses and the profession. 

We are currently seeking a Lecturer (Level B) with scholarly expertise in accounting, forensic accounting, data analytics and governance related areas. Successful applicants will be expected to make a strong contribution to research, coordinate and teach undergraduate and postgraduate units related to financial and non-financial reporting, auditing & assurance, and forensic accounting and data analytics.  The applicant will supervise research students and make a positive contribution to the reputation of the Department, School and University.

Essential Selection Criteria

·         A PhD in accounting or a closely related discipline (or submitted);

·         A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of publications in the highest quality domestic and international journals;

·         A demonstrated ability to attract external funding for research and a record of competitive grant success;

·         Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline and a committed capability to deliver high quality learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level;

·         Capacity to independently conduct lectures, tutorials, assessments and exam marking in the relevant discipline area and evidence of teaching quality;

·         Excellent communication skills, with an ability to relate and engage with other staff and students from all backgrounds and to represent the Department to external stakeholders and the general public;

·         Capacity to supervise honours, masters and/or PhD research students;

·         Demonstrated experience to make a contribution to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Department along with a track record of effective team work;

·         Willingness to contribute to the administration of the Department and Faculty.

Desirable Selection Criteria

·         Experience and interest in interdisciplinary research;

·         Experience in the development and ongoing partnerships with industry and professional bodies.
