Overview
Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a leading multi-campus university in Western Australia serving communities nationally and internationally. For 17 years in a row, ECU has achieved a 5 (out of 5 star) star rating for teaching quality in the 2024 Good Universities Guide (GUG). ECU is ranked in the world's Top 100 universities under 50 years old in the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) Young Universities Rankings, and in the Top 400 THE World University Rankings 2024.

The School of Business and Law is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, held by less than 6% of Business Schools in the world, and develops industry-ready graduates through high-quality teaching and learning experiences and engaged applied research. The School offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, executive education, and research degrees designed to give students relevant theory, practical work experience and critical employability skills.

The School of Business and Law ranks well across several respected indicators. In 2024, the School’s Business and Economics discipline was ranked in the Top 250 on the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. In the 2023 Shanghai Rankings, the School’s Hospitality and Tourism Management discipline is ranked 26th in the world and 3rd nationally. In the recently released 2023 Australian Financial Review BOSS Best Business Schools list, the School solidified its standing as a leader in business education, being named Western Australia’s ‘top-ranked business school for quality’ (2nd nationally).

As part of an exciting expansion plan, the School of Business and Law will move into the $853 million world-class facilities of the landmark ECU City Campus at Yagan Square in the Perth CBD in 2025. This state-of-the-art Business, Law, Creative Industries and Technology Campus will be where innovative thinkers, adaptive learners and global citizens meet to become the leaders of tomorrow. ECU’s CBD campus will bring together streams of teaching and research with unique synergies for growth and development. This is unequivocally the most exciting time of all to join the University as it embarks on this transformational journey.

The Role
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Business Services, this teaching-research scholar role is part of a small academic team responsible for the design, delivery and administration of work-integrated learning (WIL) academic units in the ECU School of Business and Law. WIL offerings are largely work-based (e.g. internships and placements), incorporate career development learning and are delivered as Majors, Minors, Specialisations and/or individual academic units at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The role will involve teaching, assessing, moderating and coordinating WIL units across multiple teaching periods through the year. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum and assessment development in WIL and is expected to engage in scholarship to inform WIL offerings that are innovative, high quality and meet relevant academic standards and policy.

The role will typically attract a balance of teaching (50%) research (40%) and service (10%).  Research will be linked to business disciplines (ideally Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism, Sport, Event Management or Entrepreneurship and Innovation). Academic service will require participation in relevant meetings, committees, and communities of practice, alongside activities that develop and further industry and community partnerships for WIL.

As part of the ECU community, the applicant must demonstrate personal attributes that correspond with the University’s Values of Integrity, Respect, Courage, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.

Benefits and Remuneration
This full-time, ongoing position attracts a salary of $110,065 - $130,045 (ALEVB) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
