Deakin’s Arts & Cultural Management program has offered a tailored business education to arts workers for over 30 years. It prepares future oriented arts managers through courses that are shaped by strong industry support and the latest research insights. As a fully online offering the program attracts students from across Australia, particularly those living in regional and remote locations.

As a Lecturer, Arts and Cultural Management, you will:

  • Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles). Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
  • Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery. 
  • Actively participate and lead grant applications and engagement in the industry sector.
  • Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Monitor and adapt assessment practices to improve learning outcomes.
  • Provide academic support to students within units and guide students to appropriate support services where appropriate. Assist in applying industry and/or research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources
  • Assist in integrating new pedagogical research across all aspects of education. Advance knowledge within their specific fields/areas of teaching, scholarship and pedagogical research activity.
  • Support, and may lead, applications for research and creative activities, including applications for external competitive funding, external funding for commercialization and translation activities and other funding demonstrating sustained efforts. 
  • Publish in journals which are recognised and highly ranked in the appropriate journal ranking lists 

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications
  • Professional experience in the arts and creative industries (minimum three years)
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
  • Ability to participate in industry networks, contribute to communities through research and capacity to contribute to leadership of research and administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and industry.
