About the team

The International Student Experience team support both international students studying at UWA and domestic students seeking international study experiences. The International Student Experience team assists students with their transition to UWA, acts as a point of contact and ensures appropriate support and advice is provided to students. The team is responsible for operationalising the University’s strategic goals in Student Mobility and managing inbound and outbound Student Exchange and Study Abroad programs. A key function is to assure the smooth operation of University's monitoring and reporting responsibilities within statutory timelines, including monitoring and support of Under 18-year-old students in accordance with the relevant legislative frameworks.

About the opportunity

In this position, you will plan and coordinate activities, services and programs for new and current international students in line with the University and the Australian government’s legislative framework, policies, and procedures. You will provide a high level of administrative support to the area, including for student-facing events. You will advise and refer international students when they present with complex enquiries or transition issues.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level, including a demonstrated knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for management of international students under the ESOS Act, National Code and migration legislation and experience in the application of the same in a tertiary setting
  • Substantial experience in coordinating events for international students of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Well-developed understanding of relevant issues impacting on the successful transition to university of commencing international students and their continuing success
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult and support students with various needs
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including Microsoft Office, databases, CRM systems, email and internet usage and demonstrated organisational and administration skills, with a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and complete tasks within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team
