About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, International Student Services the International Student Advisor plays a key role in providing support services to new and existing international students and their families at Flinders University.
From commencement and onwards throughout their studies, you will provide advice and support to international students, including:
Contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of training and education resources and programs
Advising students about services and accommodation within the University
Participation in projects undertaken by the International Student Services Team
Understanding various legislative requirements from the University regarding international students
You will also be responsible for liaising with multiple stakeholders, internal and external to the University, including using a case-management approach to fulfill University obligations to students sponsored by the Australian Awards Scholarship (AAS) program. This will involve data reporting, assessments of scholarship cases and offering advice to academic and professional staff within Flinders University among other responsibilities.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in a case management, counselling, or advisory capacity; being able to exercise sound judgment dealing with sensitive or complex matters and negotiate outcomes on behalf of clients. You will be able to interpret and implement University and Government policies and regulations to achieve resolutions. You are an excellent communicator with people from all backgrounds and cultures, in writing, in person and in a team. You are highly organised and analytical when it comes to researching information for reports and documents and can present complex information in an easily interpreted way.
In addition, you should also demonstrate:
A tertiary qualification and subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
High-level administrative and organisational skills including the ability to work effectively in meeting tight deadlines.
Computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft suite of applications.
Experience working with international students, including understanding of international student visa conditions and compliance.
Please note, this is a FULL-TIME position, so the successful candidate must be able to work full time during business hours, Monday to Friday.

A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
