About the opportunity

The HR Business Services Administration Officer is responsible for the inventory of a large and complex HR department including assisting with the onboarding and offboarding of all team members. You will undertake generalist office administration duties as a team member within the Office of the Chief Human Resources (CHRO).

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • ensure all aspects of onboarding and offboarding are completed in a seamless and welcoming manner for HR Staff, liaising with relevant stakeholders, complying to University policy and guidelines.
  • confidently support and communicate with HR senior leadership, providing timely and effective administration support.
  • track and manage all aspects of the HR asset register, maintaining strong records of inventory, including purchasing and e-wasting of equipment in compliance with University policy and guidelines.
  • manage all aspects of the HR office site including the purchasing of office supplies, catering, office equipment and events.
  • assist with invoicing payments and purchases as required and the management of the cab charge procedures and associated recording for HR.
  • assist in the moving of physical assets to ensure the HR office site is appropriately equipped for staff.
  • support the HR Business Services team when required with general administration tasks, including communications.

About you

  • ability to work in an agile, complex office environment with competing demands.
  • trustworthy, reliable and have a strong work ethic, being comfortable working in a team environment.
  • experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Ariba and Concur.
  • able to understand and appreciate the importance of University policies and guidelines, applying these in your daily work in a compliant way.
  • strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • possess a professional approach to all endeavours and a willingness to take on new tasks.
  • strong attention to detail and comfortable to work in an autonomous, hybrid work environment.
  • collaborative, calm under pressure and confident in meeting and supporting new staff in friendly and supportive manner.
  • physically able to maneuver office equipment and office setups.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
