The Human Resources Directorate delivers employment related services to all staff and supports the strategic objectives of the University. Human Resources delivers the staff (user) employment experience throughout a staff members appointment at the University. This means designing, implementing and management of a comprehensive range of workplace, people, and workforce programs and initiatives. Human Resources is business focused and partners with the organisation to achieve strategic and change outcomes. Effective support and advice to staff is provided through a range of organisational and Human Resources business systems and processes, effective management of employment arrangements, records, timely management of remuneration matters.

The HR Appointments Officer contributes to the effective delivery of appointment management to staff and supervisors across the university on a range of appointment management processes and activities including but not limited to the development of positions, classifications, recruitment, new starter onboarding and record creation, including recognition of prior service and ensuring that all documentation related to the appointment is saved accurately.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Undertaking a range of transactional activities supporting the management of vacancies, applicants and the employment record relating to appointment process throughout the employee life cycle, including:
  • Position Classification and Job Design,
  • Recruitment and Onboarding functions, 
  • Employee record management. 
  • Working in a collaborative manner across the HR team and organisational units to support the planning and implementation of appointment activities.
  • Providing timely and accurate advice in relation to appointment activities ensuring the correct application of the ACU staff enterprise agreement (where relevant) and employment related
  • Maintaining accurate HR records in accordance with legislative standards and ACU policy and ensure integrity of HR data to support workforce reporting and decision making.  

You will need to have:

  • Completion of a tertiary degree in Human Resources, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR or recruitment role with proven ability to interpret and apply enterprise agreements and/or other industrial agreements and HR policies and procedures.
  • Proven commitment to high-level client service with demonstrated experience liaising with a variety of clients on a range of people management issues and responding effectively to individual client needs.
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills including ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks, work to deadlines and support a high-volume work area.

Total remuneration valued to $95,101 - $102,196 pa, including salary component $80,362 - $86,357pa (Higher Education Worker Level 6), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
