About Student Engagement 

The Student Engagement portfolio excels in providing effective student engagement across digital channels and platforms at Curtin, as well as targeted interventions with the aim of supporting student success. This team supports and provides best practice advice across Curtin on meeting the internal digital communication and platform objectives of the University. 

The Graphic Designer supports visual communications across the various digital student engagement channels in order to develop and improve the overall student experience.  

In this role you will  

This role is responsible for the conception, development and production of high-quality and best practice design services for Curtin’s student engagement needs. You will work collaboratively as part of the Digital Student Engagement team to deliver design services that optimise the student experience and promote student satisfaction and retention. In this role, you will also support the wider Student Experience portfolio in developing infographics and other visual methods for displaying reports.   

Responsibilities include  

  • Create and deliver high quality design services for the University, and provide finished work across a variety of a channels/media, purposes and audiences, including but not limited to: 
  • Design content for a range of digital channels, including digital screens, social media, websites and video. 
  • Develop style guides for student experience areas. 
  • Develop infographics and other visual methods of displaying reports. 
  • Work collaboratively with Digital Communication Coordinators as appropriate to ensure all assigned design briefs are delivered on time and meet all customer and business objectives. 
  • Ensure all design material is of high quality best practice standard, is aligned with Curtin’s mission and values, and that information is accurate and consistent across all publishing channels and that all design material complies with Curtin brand identity style guidelines, user experience and accessibility standards and legislative requirements. 
  • Contribute to the development of best practice internal production processes and office systems, and engage in their continuous improvement.

We are looking for someone with 

  • A diploma qualification with considerable relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. 
  • Demonstrated high-level graphic design skills using professional design software.  
  • Knowledge of web design and content management systems. 
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Demonstrated ability to organise time and workload in order to meet deadlines and maintain control of multiple tasks. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and clients. 
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability & willingness to adopt agile processes and methodologies. Experience in a tertiary education environment or a large and complex organisation (desirable).
