  • Fixed term contract at our Camperdown campus for an Education Designer with a base salary of $104,633 + 17% superannuation until 31 Dec, 2024

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are seeking an Education Designer to create, develop, test, and implement educational resources for use by staff and students online and in classrooms that are aligned to the needs of the work area, by driving innovations in the provision of online learning sites and student learning experiences. 

There is an onsite requirement for this position, and current University of Sydney students are not eligible to apply

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

  • provide deep technical expertise and support to the work area in the creation and development of educational resources to enhance student learning experience 
  • design creative student-centered learning experiences, both blended and online, based on sound educational design principles 
  • design and deliver innovative eLearning and multimedia sites, in targeted curriculum areas to meet the teaching needs of the work area 
  • provide sound advice and liaise with Course Directors, Academic and Teaching Staff to design solutions during the development of agreed resources, units of study modules and courses 
  • provide strategic support and advice to academic and teaching staff on the effective use of educational and multimedia technologies across various programs of study in the faculty 
  • provide support and sound advice on University and Faculty policy and guidelines related to education support, teaching, and curriculum matters, including implementation of policies and procedures within the work area. 

About you 

To be successful in this role, you: 

  • think creatively about current challenges and opportunities to develop solutions, encouraging creative capacity in others to optimise outcomes for students, staff, and the community 
  • are client focused, with the ability to build partnerships between the faculty education design team and the schools, and precincts 
  • have excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve required outcome 
  • have strong problem-solving skills and digital literacy and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy period 
  • experience working in a tertiary environment with established knowledge of using Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard and a range of education technologies.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
