Overview:

  • Key leadership role charged with shaping the STEM Colleges’ transnational strategy.
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to travel to and work at other campuses of the University locally and internationally.
  • 5-year fixed term appointment (reappointment available) with underlying continuing role.

About the role

Reporting to the Associate DVC (International) and collaborating with academic leaders across the College, the Director (STEM Transnational) will play a pivotal role in furthering the STEM College’s vision to be a leading and highly competitive provider of exceptional education, research and industry engagement across Asia and Europe.

Operating as a key leader within the STEM International Office, the successful candidate for the newly created position will work together with academic leaders, research partners and key stakeholders across Asia and Europe to identify and develop new transnational education, research and industry engagement opportunities as well as playing a critical role in maintaining and enhancing quality learning experiences for our international students in Australia and overseas.

The role offers the opportunity to influence across a broad group of stakeholders, to shape new educational and research opportunities and partnerships and to provide leadership to the College as the transnational strategy develops.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • An outstanding record of excellence in teaching and research and a strong international profile in relevant academic discipline in the STEM College to earn the respect and confidence of academic and professional colleagues and partners.
  • Strong academic leadership and management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver on strategic objectives, and expert understanding of partnership and compliance obligations, especially in relation of offshore partnership and other transnational educational models.
  • Strong academic leadership skills and organizational sensitivity with capacity to lead, influence in a complex organisation with demonstrated record of initiating and implementing successful partnerships.
  • A demonstrated understanding and experience of delivering impactful initiatives to foster student experience.
  • Perspective and awareness of transnational education landscape and public policy, regulations, trends, and challenges in relation to higher education.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and cultural inclusion. 
  • A demonstrated understanding of a commitment to administration, financial, governance and quality management system within the University.

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant field and achievements that meet the professorial criteria.
