About the Role
Embark on a rewarding journey as a Department Support Officer, where you'll serve as the face of the department, providing exceptional customer service to visitors and staff alike. With your expert guidance and assistance, you'll navigate a spectrum of enquiries with professionalism and efficiency, leaving a lasting impression of excellence. Juggling multiple tasks simultaneously, you'll be instrumental in the seamless execution of departmental operations, from event planning to resource management. Your commitment to remaining proactive and informed ensures that the department functions smoothly, maintaining compliance with university policies while delivering top-notch service at every turn.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and managing a diverse range of events within the department, including annual programs, symposiums, lectures, and open days, encompassing tasks such as budgeting, publicity, logistics, and guest arrangements.
  • Managing reception duties to ensure a welcoming environment for visitors and academics, encompassing tasks such as responding to enquiries, welcoming visitors, coordinating deliveries, administering taxi vouchers, and overseeing bookings for seminar and meeting rooms.
  • Offering guidance on the content and layout of Department and Research Institute/Centres web pages, ensuring regular updates and adherence to current social media trends. Additionally, managing web surveys, analysing data, and maintaining departmental mailing lists to support effective communication strategies.
  • Overseeing the usage of consumables and office supplies, and managing resource allocation for various staff members and doctoral students, while also handling building maintenance tasks such as office relocations and equipment upkeep.

You also have:

  • A tertiary degree or an equivalent blend of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in standard application software, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Your New Team – The Department of Management and Marketing
The Department of Management and Marketing has 83 academic staff and 30 PhD students, all supported by 6 full-time equivalent professional staff members. Currently, the department has over 20,000 enrolments, in 148 subjects.

The administrative unit is responsible for all aspects of the administration of the Department, including financial, human resources, and student issues. The Professional Staff are responsible for providing advice and services to staff, students, other University Departments and external organisations.
