The School of Psychiatry is widely reputed as the pre-eminent psychiatric research department in the country, and one of the leading university groups internationally. It is located at the UNSW teaching hospitals at various metropolitan sites in the Sydney region and in rural New South Wales.

This position has been established to facilitate research related to cognitive disorders and dementia.

The Data Analyst will work on a program for Neurodegenerative Disorders. The aim of the program is to examine cross-sectional and longitudinal associations between cognition and measures of social health. The project involves Australia, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Sweden and the UK, with external collaborators in Italy, USA and Indonesia. The Data Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that the data contributed by partner studies are accurate and harmonised and to assist with data analysis and administration of the project. Key tasks will include data cleaning; data harmonisation; data management processes; development of statistical approaches; and planning, executing, and writing up of analyses. Advanced knowledge of R software and knowledge of SPSS are essential.


$89,670 - $95,656 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

Fixed Term for 10 months from date of appointment.

Full time (35 hours per week)

To be successful in this role you will have:

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, computer sciences, epidemiology, psychology or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience. A post-graduate qualification in a related discipline will be highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Essential: High level expertise using statistical software packages R and SPSS.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in data cleaning, visualisation, missing data imputation and analysis.
  • Sound understanding and experience in statistical analysis of epidemiological, longitudinal datasets.
