Overview
The Resource Planning Team within the Finance and Business Services Centre plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial and strategic direction of the University. We are at the forefront of developing and implementing the University's Student Load, Operational, and Capital Budgets, ensuring the institution's financial sustainability and growth. Additionally, our team leads the critical task of annual fee setting, providing essential course and unit costing information and analysis. Our expertise extends to delivering strategic financial advice, management services, and business support, alongside valuable insights on student load through comprehensive budgets, forecasts, and analysis. Our team is integral to ECU’s ability to make informed decisions, support its mission, and achieve its objectives.

The primary objective of this role is to utilise the power of data to forecast trends, drive strategic decisions, and uncover the meaning behind numbers. In this role, you will leverage our systems to access data from our warehouse, allowing for focus on data analysis. Your expertise in econometric modelling and trend analysis will be crucial in transforming raw data into actionable business insights for the University. While technical skills in areas such as Power BI are valued, your ability to apply analytical skills to solve business problems and forecast future trends is what will make the biggest difference to our team. 

This role, under the direction of the Manager, Business Insights, is responsible for providing support in student load planning, data analysis and modelling.

The ideal candidate will have: 

Qualifications:

  • A qualification in a relevant field with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role. 

Experience:

  • Prior experiences working in an analytical role of querying data and creating models, forecasting, and providing insights through data interrogation.
  • The ability to develop realistic models.
  • Experience in preparing dashboards and visualisation that provide useful information for the users.  
  • Experience of using Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint to intermediate level. Experience of Cognos BI & TM1 is preferred, but not essential. 
  • This role is best suited to candidates who are interested in applying their analytical skills to understand business trends and forecast future developments.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, ongoing position attracts remuneration of $88,973 to $95,993 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
