About the opportunity

The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) is a flagship academic research organisation within the University of Sydney. The CTC conducts large, multicentre, and international investigator-initiated clinical trials, takes part in trials of national and international collaborative groups and contributes expertise to trials run by others. The research conducted by the CTC covers a broad range of therapeutic areas including oncology, cardiology, diabetology, nephrology, neonatal and perinatal health, and currently a number of exciting projects investigating treatments for COVID-19. Conduct of academic research may adopt different models from the pharmaceutical industry and contract research organisations models. We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trial Learning and Development Lead to manage, and deliver effective learning and development (L&D) programs and initiatives to ensure Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) staff have the capabilities to meet work area objectives.

As Clinical Trial Learning and Development Lead you will have the opportunity to engage the CTC staff in positive learning programs that drive success, motivation and engagement. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • consult with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs are relevant and responsive to the emerging needs of the work area
  • working closely with the Head of Quality to oversee regulatory and procedural training compliance and manage the provision of a broad range of resources for CTC trial staff
  • develop innovative learning programs, resources, and materials in partnership with content experts, ensuring continued relevance as systems and business processes evolve
  • design and maintain a quality orientation program to improve the retention and success of staff, tailored to each role and/or staff segment
  • manage the delivery of the ‘CTC in Learning’ program, building on the internal and external community of clinical trials leadership at FMH and beyond

About you

  • hold tertiary qualifications minimum Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with relevant experience in workplace learning and/or business administration support and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
  •  knowledge of University policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment
  • hold an understanding and knowledge of ICH GCP and associated clinical trials regulatory guidelines (local and international).
  • demonstrated leadership in developing and operationalizing strategies including the development and monitoring of operational plans
  • working knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and Careerpath, together with experience using common learning authoring tools.
  • hold extensive knowledge of clinical trial requirements during their lifecycle from start up to close out, including a detailed understanding of the regulatory and ethical approval process across Australia.
