HEO8 $106,561 - $119,550 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation.

Fixed term opportunity available at 0.6FTE until December 2024.

The Law School, which is part of the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics, operates four free legal advice services as part of its Clinical Legal Education Program and is operated by students from the Law School, under supervision of lawyers and law lecturers. This position is for clinical legal supervision of the Magistrates Court Legal Advice Service (MCLAS) located at the Magistrates Court in Adelaide. Working under general direction of the Clinical Legal Education Director, in this role you will supervise students on placement at the legal advice clinic, manage the mediation volunteer program operated by the MCLAS and have the opportunity to attend/present in the related seminar program.

To be successful you will need:

• Significant knowledge of the legal profession and legal practice in South Australia.
• Proven experience in independently managing a busy legal practice.
• Capacity to work across the range of areas likely to be encountered in the minor civil jurisdiction of the SA Magistrates Court, including debt, contract, commercial, property, defamation, negligence, tort, including the range of legislative claims and matters that are dealt with in the Magistrates Court.
• Demonstrated work experience in providing sound strategic advice, including preparation of reports or similar.
• Proven experience in supervision of undergraduate law students on clinical placement.
• Demonstrated understanding of the role of clinical experience in the undergraduate law degree
• Understanding of and experience in tertiary education in a practical and theoretical context.
• Capacity to develop, implement and maintain a range of web based and social media resources.
• Experience in undergraduate or early career practitioner teaching and mentoring.
• Capacity to manage a busy workload of minor civil cases with up to 8 students at work at a time.

Qualifications

• A Law Degree, unrestricted Practising Certificate and minimum of 5 years post admission experience.
