About Foundation Studies

The RMIT Training Foundation Studies (FS) Program consists of courses comparable in standard to an Australian Year 12 curriculum. It is nationally recognised as a program that equips international students with the skills and capabilities to seek entry into higher education programs in Australia. This program is designed to prepare students for a seamless transition into a range of higher education programs. It develops a mix of discipline knowledge, academic English and study skills in a supportive, flexible and learner-centred environment. It aims to assist students to become independent, critical and lifelong learners and to maximise their potential for success in an Australian university context.  

About the Role

The Casual Arts and Design Assistant will report directly to the Art, Design and Architecture Team Leader, Stream. The role will provide support for learning and teaching activities working closely with staff and students in the Foundation Studies – Art, Design and Architecture stream.  The assistant will achieve this through proactive administrative, operational and logistical support, particularly focusing on ensuring all materials, spaces, procedures, preparation and displays are coordinated in a timely and appropriate manner.

About You

To be successful in this position you will have:

Essential

  • A Tertiary Qualification in Art and Design
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and communicate with key stakeholders across RMIT Training
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and engage with all students at differing levels of ability and interest
  • Demonstrated outstanding organisational skills
  • Working with Children Clearance

Desirable

  • Familiarity with basic art and design software applications
  • Experience in preparing for, curating and/or submitting work to an Art Exhibition (visual arts)
  • Experience in exhibition events
  • Proficiency with, or willingness to learn Canvas (learning management system)
  • Demonstrated experience as a highly-skilled artist and designer
