The Commercialisation, Business Development and Strategic Projects teams sit within the Innovation and Commercial Services branch, part of the Division of Research and Innovation, and are responsible for coordinating and bringing commercial rigour to the assessment, development and implementation of the University's commercial activities.
Working under limited direction, in the role of Business Development Manager, you will enjoy leading the development of strategic business development plans and generating revenue for the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. In this rewarding role, you will foster strong relationships between internal clients and external organisations to identify mutually beneficial opportunities for external engagement while also playing a vital role in raising the level of commercial awareness and skills within the University research community.
To be successful you will need:
- Extensive demonstrated experience in generating new business and managing strategic relationships.
- Extensive experience in negotiating commercial contracts including those of a complex nature.
- Demonstrated understanding of service culture and key account management principles.
- Outstanding analytical, conceptual, problem solving and project management skills including the ability to understand complex concepts/technologies and convey them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences and to provide recommendations to senior management.
- Highly developed verbal and written communications skills including experience in the delivery of presentations and preparation of reports for a range of internal and external stakeholders including government and industry.
- Experience in intellectual property in particular identification and management.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting researchers to resolve problems to the benefit of industry and the community.
- This position requires a National Police Clearance check.
Desirable:
- Established networks and links with industry, research bodies, relevant government authorities, the investment community, or other relevant associations.
- Sound understanding of university research management and university funding systems.
