About the Role:

The Associate Director (Academic), VU Brisbane, will provide academic and operational leadership and management of VU Brisbane, ensuring quality provision across its academic and administrative dimensions in all areas to achieve exceptional educational and business (including revenue) goals, including oversight of quality assurance, academic integrity, and the overall student experience. 

The Associate Director (Academic) is accountable for managing the delivery of VU Higher Education Diploma, Bachelor and Master degree courses at VU Brisbane. VU Brisbane offers courses in business and information technology, and education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This is a three-year fixed-term contract. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead and foster excellence in scholarship, teaching and policy implementation for VU Brisbane academic staff and courses.
  • Implement policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure course delivery meets equivalent standards at VU Brisbane to those set for VU Melbourne.
  • Recruit and manage academic teaching and professional staff.
  • Maintain key relationships with ECA shared services and VU stakeholders across the University.
  • Implement robust professional development opportunities for VU Brisbane academic staff and opportunities for VU Brisbane staff to engage in scholarly activity to maintain currency in their discipline
  • Report and make appropriate recommendations on issues relating to academic quality and student experience at VU Brisbane 
  • Manage the Academic Administration and Student Services teams for teaching, classroom and lab allocations, Learning Hub, and student support services
  • Develop collaboration with industry and professional organisations.

About You:

You will be an experienced professional with a background in academic management in an international higher education context, strong operational management skills and a proven record of successfully influencing and engaging others to deliver effective outcomes. With a strong focus on customer service and the ability to apply creative thinking to find solutions to issues and problems, they will be adept at working autonomously, applying considerable knowledge and expertise to build and expand the VU Brisbane operation.
