Overview
WAAPA is an internationally renowned performing arts training institution within Edith Cowan University. Alumni from all of our courses are found in a multitude of roles within the international arts and cultural industries, from performers to composers, songwriters, producers and artistic curators. The School provides the most comprehensive range of performing arts training in Australia with Dance, Theatre and Music, as well as all of the technical and design disciplines. Production and Design training at WAAPA is designed to facilitate collaboration across genres and empower students with the range of skills needed to succeed in today’s industry.

WAAPA is seeking to appoint either an Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer in Production who, for an initial term of three years, will lead the School’s Production Discipline as Associate Dean.

The Role
The Associate Dean, Production is a member of the School’s executive team managing a discipline cluster within the School and the associated staff. This role reports to the Executive Dean, WAAPA and has responsibility for the delivery and innovation of high-quality production programs both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The Production discipline area includes Design, Stage Management, Sound, Lighting, Costume, Props and Scenery and includes delivery at VET (Diploma, Advanced Diploma) and HE provision. The newly appointed Associate Dean will have a strong background in one of these fields, or in a closely related discipline.

Fostering a collaborative, professional and inclusive School culture, this role will work closely with the School’s leadership team to focus on further enhancing WAAPA’s national and international profile.

As the Associate Dean, Production it is an inherent requirement of the role to attend WAAPA related performance/productions at ECU and non-ECU venues. With the current Government Mandates relating to proof of vaccination, the successful applicant for this role will be required to provide the appropriate vaccination status evidence to enter such venues.

The Person
The ideal candidate will be an Associate Professor (Level D) or a Senior Lecturer (Level C) with expertise in Production who has a demonstrated record of leadership preferably within a university or tertiary education institution. In addition, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• A strong background in building strategic relationships
• A creative approach, demonstrating innovation and innovative practice
• Sound risk management and strategic thinking.

Benefits & Remuneration
This full-time, ongoing position of either Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer attracts a remuneration $149,267 to $164,111 pa (Associate Professor, ALEVD) or $124,522 to $143,081 pa (Senior Lecturer, Level C). The fixed-term Associate Dean, Production appointment (initial term of three years) will attract additional remuneration as outlined in the University’s Academic Leadership Roles policy . In addition, ECU pays 17% University superannuation contribution.
