Overview:

Are you committed to promoting animal welfare? Join RMIT’s Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) as an Animal Welfare Representative (Category C).

  • Volunteer position

  • Online meetings (paid)

  • 4 – 6 hours per month

  • Training & expenses provided

The AEC is responsible for the review of teaching and research activities at RMIT involving care and use of animals. We are looking for individuals with a commitment to and experience in promoting animal welfare, as well as representatives of our broader community, to join this Committee. 

The AEC holds online meetings on the first Thursday of each month (2 – 3 hours duration).

As a Committee member, you will be provided with comprehensive training, a supportive and friendly environment and reimbursement of your costs through payment of an honorarium.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a demonstrated commitment to and experience in improving the welfare of animals

  • Be willing to commit to a 3 year appointment

  • Be available to attend meetings and undertake pre-reading

  • Not be a current employee (or associated with) RMIT University

  • Not be currently involved in the care or use of animals for scientific or teaching activities.

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and National Police
