About the opportunity
The Law Extension Committee was established by the University of Sydney Senate in 1964 to provide legal education to students undertaking the Diploma in Law examinations set by the Legal Profession Admission Board. Completing the Diploma in Law fulfills the educational requirement to be admitted as a lawyer in NSW.

The LEC teaches two semesters a year – Summer and Winter. Classes are held in the evening and at Weekend Schools. The student body is diverse in age, background and experience.

Administration Assistant – will work in a small team to provide general administrative and operational support to work area.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • respond to complex enquiries via phone and email from students and staff, ensuring a high level of customer service in a pro-active manner;

  • provide administrative support to academic staff, including updating teaching materials on Canvas, assisting with Zoom lectures and training on new technology;

  • assist with student-related activities, including onboarding new students, processing assignments, responding to extension requests, setting up lecture recordings and organizing tutorials;

  • update databases, extracts and prepares reports (including charts and graphs) following established procedures;

  • co-ordinate with external service providers, as directed.

About you

  • strong administrative and organisational skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement to complete tasks;

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated customer service experience;

  • experience using Canvas and Microsoft programs, especially Excel;

  • demonstrated ability to prioritise workload during busy periods;

  • willingness to work on a wide variety of tasks, both independently and as part of a team, being proactive in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
