Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship - Psychiatry – C. Mauro

Duke University Medical Center’s APA-Accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship Training Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  Training takes place within the context and spirit of the scientist-practitioner and clinical scientist models with the overarching aim to produce a Clinical Psychologist who is able to demonstrate all Profession-wide competencies and thrive in a variety of academic and health care settings.  A second aim of the program is to help Interns explore and develop areas of concentration that prepares them for early career development in Research, Clinical work, and/or Education.  A central vision of the Duke Internship Program is to provide both the breadth to ensure core competencies while giving opportunities to pursue depth into a specific concentration of Clinical Psychology.

Expectations of the intern upon completion of internship:

At the completion of the program, interns are expected to develop competency in the nine profession-wide competencies outlined in the Standards of Accreditation.  The breadth and depth of experiences during the internship year serve them well in subsequent careers in clinical psychology. Graduates of the program may function as clinicians, researchers, and or educators across a variety of settings.

Areas of concentration during internship:

The program offers two tracks: Adult Psychology Track and Child Psychology Track. Interns apply to one of these two tracks.  Within each track, interns also specify an area of concentration as shown in the table below:
