TRAINING COORDINATOR-AMSTI

 

The Center for Community Outreach Development seeks a Training Coordinator to coordinate professional development training for various staff of the school districts in the region, including professional learning and foundational training, which presents significant, meaningful math and science content and models instructional strategies. To provide classroom and one-on-one training, and to provide opportunities for coaching with teachers or school-based instructional coaches. To develop and coordinate individual instruction materials and to provide on-site user support. Ascertains needs, researches, develops, coordinates, and implements training programs, including Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) Preservice training which will be provided to Institutes of Higher Education (IHE) that partner with the AMSTI site. To design and write curriculum in coordination with Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) Specialists. To update training manuals and maintain current educational materials. To maintain appropriate records, and to document the planning and implementation of all support instruction, professional development, and event attendance, materials, and activities for both summer training as well as ongoing training during the academic year. To assist with the recruitment of new program participants. To participate in professional development activities and staff meetings at the site and state level as required.

Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide frequent and ongoing support and coaching to teachers, AMSTI lead teachers, certified AMSTI facilitators, instructional coaches, and or administrators based on assignments and or LEA needs as defined annually by the ALSDE
  • Facilitate and or participate in professional learning for teachers and or administrators based on assignments and or LEA needs, including online options
  • Provide ongoing professional learning to AMSTI lead teachers, certified AMSTI facilitators, and or instructional coaches
  • Maintain records and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Record activities on Monday.Com (an AMSTI ALSDE program)
  • Participate in AMSTI/AMSTI-ASIM professional learning activities and staff meetings conducted by the ALSDE and Site Director

Professional Learning

  • Facilitate and or participate in professional learning for teachers and or administrators based on assignments and or LEA needs, including online options
  • Assist AMSTI-ALSDE in developing and maintaining common professional learning offerings and supporting resources for AMSTI/AMSTI-ASIM and or for the ALSDE, including online options
  • Provide ongoing professional learning to AMSTI lead teachers, certified AMSTI facilitators, and or instructional coaches

Educator Support

  • Provide frequent ongoing support and coaching to teachers, AMSTI lead teachers, certified AMSTI facilitators, instructional coaches, and or administrators based on assignments and or LEA needs as defined annually by the ALSDE (in situations where the content specialist is leading the classroom or team-teaching, the classroom teacher must always be present)
  • Assist AMSTI/AMSTI-ASIM teachers in effectively using common planning time and Professional Learning Communities to improve instruction
  • Instructional Materials: Work with materials managers and support to make site-level decisions based on teacher needs/requirements, including AMSTI-ASIM

General Duties

  • AMSTI and AMSTI-ASIM Training Coordinators must maintain records (including school visitations, financial, and travel), and complete paperwork as required in a timely manner
  • Must participate in the development, maintenance, and promotion of AMSTI/AMSTI-ASIM resources according to the resource development and PR requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Annual Salary:  $62,355 - $101,325

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Math, or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Current Alabama Teaching Certificate required.

 

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • AMSTI K-5 Math Training and have taught this content and pedagogy for numerous years, Attended OGAP training (Additive, Multiplicative, or both)
  • Experience as a Building Math Coach, AMSTI K-5 Math training, and have taught this content and pedagogy for numerous years
  • Experience as a Building Based Math Coach
