Description

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med - Preventive Medicine, is seeking a Scientist I. The Scientist I will provide scientific expertise to support the research endeavors of the PI. This will include managing and conducting data analyses, writing scientific reports, presenting study results, and training and managing other study staff.

 

General Responsibilities

 

  • To employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in a particular field of specialization.
  • To plan, coordinate and conduct research.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities  

 

  • Will conduct data analyses on grant funded projects that include large cohort and electronic medical record data. Ability to apply multiple analytical methods to address study goals.
  • Handles all data activities and management for the PI's projects. This includes data procurement, management, security and required documentation.
  • Responsible for data integrity and reporting.
  • Conducts scientific research to support research projects.
  • Ensures accurate reporting of study results.
  • Aides in the design of grant funded studies and funding applications.
  • Helps write grants and publications.
  • Manages other staff on data collection, database design/management and analysis.
  • Helps mentor trainees and post-docs on the study team as needed.
  • “Must be proficient in R and/or SAS software.”
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Annual Salary Range   $63,125.00 - $103,700.00

     

     

    Qualifications

     
    • Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience  
    • OR  M.D. and Master's degree.  
    • OR  Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience  
    • OR  Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience 

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

     

    Preferences

    • PhD in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Services Administration or Data Science.
