RESEARCH SPECIALIST

The UAB Division of Preventive Medicine is seeking a Research Specialist for All of Us which is a large, multi-site project in collaboration with the Department of Genetics, the Division of Preventive Medicine, and the School of Medicine. This is a $60 million, five-year project. The AGHI-Alabama Genomic Health Initiative is a program aimed at preventing and treating disease, including certain types of cancer, heart problems, and genetic disorders. The program will also provide pharmacogenetic analysis to evaluate how participants may respond to certain medications. In collaboration with the Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, UAB Medicine will provide genomic testing, interpretation, and counseling free of charge to residents in each of Alabama's 67 counties. The AGHI also includes a major focus on research, through which data from test results will be used to advance scientific understanding of the role that genes play in health and disease.

Hourly Salary Range: $15.00 - $21.95

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience required.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently

• Must be comfortable working with the public and with national, state, local and community agencies

• Experience in Research related activities

• Able to review study protocols, materials and interviews

• Knowledge of the principles and procedures of community-based research, verbal and written communication skills
