Location: Columbia, Missouri
Shift:
Full time, 3 12s per week, Weekend Nights

Location:  University Hospital (floats between University Hospital, Women’s Hospital, and ED Observation)

Department:  Emergency Services

Salary:  $36.19-$52.67/hr based on applicable experience, plus $8/hr for RN Weekend Program

For a limited time, sign-on bonuses of $20,000 will be available to eligible candidates for this position on a first-come, first-serve basis. Bonuses will be paid after successful candidates complete all pre-employment verifications and start in their new roles.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Act as a resource in the organization of patient and program activities.  Act as an expert resource in emergencies.  Assume responsibility for the short-term coordination and management of care for specific patients during emergencies, specialty procedures, and post-operative recovery.  Coordinate a short-term care plan for patients with non-routine or highly specialized care needs.  Demonstrate applied critical care knowledge base to a variety of specialty settings.  Demonstrate competency in critical care skills and specialty procedures.  Demonstrate guest relations skills consistently.  Identify issues impacting patient care and patient care programs and offer suggestions for resolution.  Identify trends or variances in the effectiveness of care for non-routine/highly complex patients.  Incorporate environmental and safety practices into daily care.  Maintain scheduling flexibility to meet program needs.  Participate actively in house-wide educational activities.  Participate in activities to improve patient care with a house-wide perspective.  Participate in activities to meet department, service, and divisional goals.  Participate in research and evaluation activities.  Provide expert nursing assessment for non-routine/highly complex patients in critical care units and in specialty procedure settings.  Provide specialized and non-routine nursing care for patients in critical care   units, general care units, and specialty procedure settings.  Recognize potential legal/risk management problems and takes appropriate action.  Reinforce patient/family education and provide information as the situation warrants.  May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.  Two (2) years of RN experience in a critical care or emergency hospital setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

ICU or PACU experience.  Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
