University Registrar Services is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Residency Classification Office at the Tempe campus to educate and advise students on the requirements for residency classification while reviewing applications and documentation. Essential Duties

  • Adheres to and applies established guidelines and policies.
  • Responds to inquiries and communicates with students, staff, and general public in person, by telephone, Zoom or email regarding the dissemination of applicable residency policies and processes, and university resources.
  • Uses computer to research residency inquiries and verify the status of petitions via daily use of PeopleSoft, Salesforce, internet, and MS Office applications.
  • Displays strong attention to detail and concern for accuracy while evaluating petitions and summarizing decision-making process.
  • Drafts correspondence, answers questions or complaints and makes recommendations and adjustments within established limits, especially for non-routine and complex issues.
  • Serves as a reference source for section to assist staff, students and the public in resolving discrepancies; responds to questions and ensures necessary follow-up.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements.
  • Assists with special projects and with the training of new staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field; OR, Four years of student affairs or business administration experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in student support services in higher education.
  • Experience with providing customer service in a team environment and in a high-volume service location.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information and documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education policies and procedures.
  • Experience in MS Office, PeopleSoft, Salesforce and Slack.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
