Position Description:

Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biochemistry/Chemistry/Proteomics Scientist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high-performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometer (HPLC-MS) based experiments and provide support for department research through HPLC-MS projects, maintenance and communication of MS-based proteomic data, and analysis of protein identity, chemical modifications, and its structure.

Primary Functions

  •   Assist with the sample preparation include:

  • Dissociate tissues, lyse cells, and denature proteins
  • Reduce disulfides and alkylate cysteines
  • Digest proteins with enzyme
  • Clean/desalt peptides and evaporate solvent

  •   Carry out Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) include:

  • High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
  • Peptide Ionization
  • Peptide MS Scans
  • Fragment MS Scans     

  •   Utilize advanced data analysis tools and software (e.g., R) to identify protein and interpret proteomic data.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Knowledge of biochemistry, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.

Expertise in MS-based techniques, particularly in HPLC-MS.

Hands-on experience with MS instrumentation, including operation and maintenance.

Analytical skills and experience with data analysis software (e.g., R).

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education:               Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Required Experience:              Knowledge of MS-based techniques

Preferred Education:  Master’s degree

Preferred Experience:  Chromatography techniques, particularly HPLC

Field:  Biochemistry/Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Proteomics

Certification:  None required
