OPS Intern or Student Intern

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking two talented and highly motivated, part-time Support and Applications Interns to join Research Computing, a unit within UFIT for the summer semester. The intern will assist the RC Support and Services Team with Tier1 HiPerGator user support, application installation, and reference data management.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

• Support service request/ticket triage
• Answering basic support questions via ticketing system, slack, Zoom
• Installation of research applications on HiPerGator
• Participating in the development of support-related scripts/tools/web applications

Some key learning outcomes for the student intern are:

• Practical understanding of contemporary research computing
• HPC application installation skills
• Troubleshooting application code
• Programming experience (support tool and web app development)
• Demonstrate openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals’ differences
• Identify, write down, and carry out performance objectives (mutually agreed upon by the employer, the UFIT experiential learning supervisor, and the student) related to the practical experience in their internship

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour

UF Student Assistant

This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

OPS Intern

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

• Strong communication skills
• Familiarity with Linux and command-line use
• Research or programming experience is a plus
• HiPerGator use experience is a plus
