Research and Development Engineer (I, II, or Senior) - Applied Acoustics

The University of Mississippi's National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) is seeking a Research and Development Engineer I/II or Senior Research and Development Engineer to work with scientists and other NCPA staff to develop and design unique and state-of-art acoustic signal processing algorithms and software. This position requires the successful applicant to have demonstrated experience developing mathematical models of systems employing sensors for signal processing or control, as well as applying statistical data analysis techniques to multiple-channel data. Demonstrated knowledge of applied linear algebra and experience translating mathematical solutions into software is required. Knowledge of physical acoustics, array signal processing techniques, and C++ are highly desirable. The selected candidate must be eligible for U. S. Security Clearance. 

Job Responsibilities (examples of work performed and essential functions):
Work with other NCPA staff to develop and implement acoustic signal processing algorithms for offline and real-time applications.

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience):


Research and Development Engineer I: Minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics and two years of relevant experience or a master’s degree that is commensurate with experience. 

Research and Development Engineer II: Minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics and three years beyond the R&D Engineer I level. 

Senior Research and Development Engineer: Minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics and four years beyond the R&D Engineer II level.
