Job Overview

The Recreation Center Supervisor, reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Campus Recreation, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Campus Recreation facilities, Yates Field House, and Kehoe Field. This position supervises Facility Operations student staff and other student staff while area managers are not present. Building Managers are responsible for maintaining a safe environment in the facilities and for activating the Emergency Response Plan during emergency situations.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage building maintenance functions (both routine and emergency)
  • Enforce policies and procedures
  • Monitor Campus Recreation member activities
  • Carry out emergency protocols and procedures
  • Maintain a safe environment for members of Campus Recreation
  • Train and manage Facility Operations student staff
  • Conduct regular building inspections
  • Submit work tickets to Facilities
  • Coordinate annual equipment inventory (e.g., basketball nets, etc.) and maintaining related records
  • Cover areas when needed (i.e., lifeguarding, front desk coverage)
  • Respond to member inquiries and requests


Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation:

This position will interact on a consistent basis with: other professional staff, building occupants and visitors, external department heads, contractors, and vendors.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School diploma - preference for a BA/BS in Recreation Management, PE, or Health Services field
  • 2 years of management experience
  • Pleasant and cooperative demeanor with a customer service orientation
    Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (oral, written, and technological)
    Ability to efficiently document communication
    Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively
    Ability to work through customer issues to resolution/troubleshooting skills
    Knowledge of management methods and techniques
    Experience working both a diverse population and with students

Preferred Qualification

Experience in the field of recreation and familiarity with Georgetown University, its students, and its alumni
