Job Summary

The child psychologist will perform psychological testing and neuro-psychological testing on children ages 0-18 who undergo evaluation through the developmental pediatrics program (MDAC) in the Children’s Health Center at San Francisco General Hospital as part of a multi-disciplinary developmental assessment team.  While children of all ages are evaluated, the primary focus will be on children ages 0-5 years.  S/he may also provide didactic lectures to and supervision of psychological trainees. The incumbent will be required to provide teaching (1 lecture/quarter) to medical residents rotating through the MDAC clinic as a part of the Pediatric Residency rotation, and may be asked by other departments to provide similar lectures

This position is an essential component of the developmental pediatrics program.  The psychologist works with the other team members to conduct comprehensive evaluations of children with special developmental needs.  The psychologist is responsible for the testing component of this evaluation.  The test results will be incorporated into the overall assessment.  The final product of the assessment is a report outlining the recommendations and referrals for each specific patient.

The psychologist should be well versed in interpreting evaluation of clinical data and working with other members of the subspecialty team to formulate a treatment plan based on evidence-based intervention approaches to behavior, learning and development. The clinician should have experience with IFSP, IEP and Transitional planning and should be able to make referrals to community agencies and other service providers.  Must also be ADOS trained.

Preferably the clinician has experience with a number of treatment methods, such as behavior modification, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Floortime model, stress reduction therapy and/or counseling/play therapy. Given the nature of assessment with young children, the psychologist must be adaptable to various play settings (e.g. on the floor, sitting at a child’s table, etc.).
Flexible to hire 50% - 75% (20 hours – 30 hours per week)

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
