Under general direction, prepares, reviews, monitors complex and non-complex contracts for the acquisition of goods and services to ensure compliance with ABOR, university, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, federal standards and requirements.

Salary Range

$58,000 - $70,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Prepares and negotiates various types of complex and non-complex contracts for the acquisition of goods and services for the university.
  • Monitors university and consortia contracts. Includes but is not limited to: vendor contracts; expirations; notifications; pricing; and general contract terms and conditions.
  • Reviews complex and non-complex contracts to ensure compliance with ABOR, federal, state and university regulations and policies.
  • Reviews complex contractual terms and conditions, to ensure compliance with Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR), university policy, local, state, and federal standards, regulations, and requirements. Reviews proposed, revised and current contracts for risk management, insurance, and indemnifications issues to ensure adherence with contract requirements.
  • Maintains and updates procurement contract database ensuring files are complete.
  • Assists with the implementation of programs and tools for consistent interpretation of University, ABOR, federal and state laws, regulations, and policies affecting contract activities.
  • Works with procurement management and suppliers to resolve purchase order conflict in reference to terms and conditions.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of in-house training to promote participation and understanding of the contract process.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence and documents as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contract Administration, Procurement/Supply Chain Management or related field AND three (3) years of procurement, contract management/administration experience, OR, seven (7) years of procurement, contract management/administration experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in utilizing contract management software; juris doctorate or Contract Management certification. (2 years)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract law.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR), University, State and Federal standards, regulations and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract terminology, writing and administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practices and methods of contract review and techniques of file/record maintenance and control.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of negotiation techniques, conciliation and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting complex documents.
  • Experience in designing presentation materials.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
  • Experience in interfacing with diverse client groups with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Experience in communicating both internally and externally across all management levels and building sustaining relationships.
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective business relationships with suppliers.
  • Experience in stimulating changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
  • Experience in leading by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institutions sustainability programs

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
