Job Description

The Global Futures Impact Scholars Management Intern will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting a cohort of entering campus-based undergraduate students through the Global Futures Impact Scholars Program. This position offers the chance to shape the future of ambitious students who are keen on making a global impact through research and solutions-oriented initiatives within the College of Global Futures and the Global Futures Laboratory.

Essential Duties

  • Orientation and Welcoming:  Facilitate the welcoming of new Impact Scholars, providing a comprehensive orientation to the College of Global Futures, including its faculty, staff, students, and programs
  • Community Building: Actively engage students in building a supportive community through social events and activities.
  • Educational Leadership:  Teach a 1-credit workshop for the Impact Scholar cohort in both the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, featuring presentations by faculty and practitioners from the Global Futures Laboratory on current topics as well as research and engagement opportunities.
  • Project Development Support: Assist students in developing proposals for their Impact Scholar experience, including the conceptualization of ideas and formulation of actionable plans.
  • Funding Management:  Evaluate Impact Scholar funding applications, manage the disbursement of funds, and connect scholars with meaningful projects aligned with their interests and the goals of the Global Futures Laboratory.
  • Reflective Guidance: Lead students through reflective exercises post-experience, linking them to further educational and practical opportunities to enhance their role as changemakers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in meeting regularly with students on campus
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in global futures-related topics, including sustainability, innovation, environmental science, or international development.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring at the high school, community college, or university level
  • Evidence of effective organization, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience in working effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience in assisting with recruitment of the next Impact Scholars cohort.
  • Enrollment in a Tempe campus-based graduate program in the College of Global Futures
  • Experience with student success initiatives or academic program management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or involvement in the Global Futures Laboratory's initiatives.
  • Evidence of a track record of successful project management, particularly in an academic or research setting.

Working Environment

Flexible work options:

  • Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
  • Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
  • Remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends less than 60% of their regular workweek at a regularly assigned ASU work location. Executive vice president-level approval is required.
