Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated, part-time Risk Analyst Intern to join Information Security, a unit within UFIT for the Summer 2024 semester. This semester-long, paid internship is designed to provide students currently enrolled in college an opportunity to learn practical skills and gain experience to propel them into a successful career in Information Technology.

This is an in-person internship that will be taking place at the Ayers Building – 720 SW 2nd Ave. The intern will support the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and Information Assurance teams, assisting with evaluating and following up on open risk assessments projects, categorizations, and remediation plans.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Learn how to triage risk project requests
  • Shadow risk analysts to assist in the categorization, survey delivery and review, and risk reassessments
  • Work with vendors to obtain information on security controls and documentation
  • Collaborate with UFIT Communications team on IT awareness campaigns

Some key learning outcomes for the student intern are:

  • Learn the importance of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability in an enterprise system
  • Learn to differentiate data types and classifications on risk projects
  • Recognize the importance of enterprise alignment with software and device purchases
  • Demonstrate openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals’ differences
  • Develop and demonstrate effective work habits, including time management, punctuality, and personal accountability related to the work and its function in the economy
  • Identify, write down, and carry out performance objectives related to the practical experience in their internship

Expected Salary:

$13.00 per hour.

Minimum Requirements:

OPS
High School diploma or equivalent.

UF Student Assistant
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities 
  • Strong writing and grammatical skills
  • Technical certifications a plus
  • Level 2 background check required
