What we want

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Immunization Training Specialist to serve as a member of the Primary Care & Population Health team. The Immunization Training Specialist, under general supervision, develops and delivers group and individual training programs. Acts as primary contact for Texas Vaccines for Children. Conducts site audits conducted by the state. Responsible for inventory control of all vaccines across the clinics. Reconciles FTP rejection reports to ImmTrac 2 for bidirectional reporting. Develops training for immunizations for both physicians and clinical staff. Will audit clinical staff documentation of immunizations in EMR for accuracy. Will meet regularly with practice management to review audit and plan for training and or development needs that have been identified. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of training experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two years of related clinical experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

  • Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to plan and organize effectively

  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, general understanding of electronic medical record systems

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • LVN (with three years experience) or CMA (with five years experience)

  • One year of Texas Vaccines for Children coordination

  • Training in immunization practices

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • LVN or CMA

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

  • Oral and written communication skills

  • Presentation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Training and Development - Develop , reviews and evaluates training material. Delivers trainings to staff and providers. May develop on-line training programs. Assists in identifying training needs of immunization administration, documentation and reporting. Coordinates training program schedules. Maintains training records. Will meet regularly with practice management to review audit and plan for training and or development needs that have been identified.

  • Audits and Assessments - Conducts skills assessments for staff and provider for immunizations. Audits documentation in EMR for accuracy.

  • Vaccine Management - Maintain and renew agreements with Texas Department of Health Services and ImmTrac2. Complete monthly vaccine inventory and reporting per DSHS requirements. Monitor ImmTrac2 reporting. Facilitates annual state audit by DSHS. Acts as primary contact for Texas Vaccines for Children. Conducts site audits conducted by the state. Reconciles FTP rejection reports to ImmTrac 2 for bidirectional reporting. Develops training for immunizations for both physicians and clinical staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
