Job Description:

This position supports the Hospital Accounting Team of the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position will handle deposits for the Practice Plan and perform key internal control functions for all three UF Veterinary Hospital Locations (Gainesville, UF PETs, and UFVH @ WEC). The incumbent will use the hospital information systems and Access databases to assist the Practice Plan Accountant in accounting for the hospitals’ revenue and expenses. The incumbent will provide input on processes, systems, and workflows to help create fiscal policy and routinely monitor hospital activities for compliance with policy. In addition, this position requires reconciliation of accounts, research, filing, and entry of information. This position also manages the monthly caseload metric process, coordinates the payment reconciliation for cash and check payments, assists with the annual audit, and tracks the annual financial training requirements for the hospital staff. They will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer of the UF Veterinary Hospital.

Expected Salary:

$15.81 - $23.13 hourly; commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and three years of general accounts transaction experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient with PC applications.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, skilled in data collection and report preparation.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of accounting programs.
