Job Description: |
This position facilitates and provides day to day oversight for a variety of Whitney Laboratory’s K-12 education programs. The selected candidate coordinates, schedules, and trains Whitney Education Docents and manages the Whitney lab volunteer database. This position promotes the Whitney Laboratory Education mission in the community as appropriate, collaborates with local schools and partners to facilitate science learning and literacy, and works closely with the Education Manager on other projects as needed. Docent Coordinator This position is responsible for recruitment, training, and overall management of Education docents. The coordinator will schedule docents for all programs and maintain email/phone communication with docents as required. The candidate will arrange professional development opportunities in the form of lectures and outings. With the Education Manager, the coordinator will provide training workshops and materials, update manuals, maintain hours, and provide daily Docent supervision. The coordinator will ensure docents are delivering high-quality programming representative of the Whitney Laboratory that is consistent with our mission. Program Coordinator Curriculum/Instructor This position teaches within education programs when necessary. The coordinator will conduct program surveys and create new evaluations as needed. The coordinator will collaborate with the manager on designing appropriate education program evaluation metrics. Administrative tasks This position requires you to maintain all records of program payment, including invoicing for all programs, confirming receipt of payment, and providing receipts when needed. |
Expected Salary: |
Salary will be commensurate with experience. |
Minimum Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
This position requires experience and training in informal education at a bachelor’s level or higher. This position requires volunteer management experience. Excellent interpersonal, customer, and organizational skills are also essential. Experience working in a scientific environment and knowledge of Northeast Florida ecosystems helpful. Aquarist/animal husbandry experience helpful. |
