Job Summary
University Relations and Marketing is seeking a Director of Social Media Engagement. This is a full-time, 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Director of Social Media Engagement advances the mission of the university by designing, implementing and collaborating on an enterprise-wide approach to social media that establishes and promotes positive, productive relationships between the university’s alumni, professional, industry, legislative, and student constituencies. They lead a community of social media practitioners across the university to ensure that OSU’s social media presence is designed strategically, developed, nurtured and maintained in alignment with the university’s strategic goals.
With highly specialized professional skills and experiences orchestrating digital campaigns for large organizations, the Director works with individual practitioners and teams across colleges and business units to implement the university’s strategic plan through external relationships and outreach activities moderated through social media to engage, promote, and gain support for OSU programs and services.

What You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, business administration or a related field is required.
  • Five years of related experience in communications, marketing communications or marketing with demonstrated experience in driving the implementation of strategic communications plans and tactics.
  • Work experience should include developing and engaging in plans that support strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills a must. Must be highly organized and show attention to detail. Ability to inspire confidence, earn trust and collaborate in a way that builds relationships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion concepts and issues as they apply to research and marketing and communications.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Master’s degree, certificate or demonstrated commitment to continuing education in marketing, communications, business or business administration.
  • Seven years of related experience in communications, marketing communications or marketing with demonstrated experience in driving the implementation of strategic communications plans and tactics.
  • Experience working with research, education and community programs in an academic environment or large nonprofit preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
