Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one Digital Media Assistant student position for University Housing & Dining Services at Oregon State University.
  • This position typically works about 10-15 hours per week and no more than 20 hours per week.
  • Period of employment is approximately June 2024 – January 31, 2025.

The University Housing & Dining Services Digital Media Assistant works directly with UHDS’ marketing and communications managers, the assistant director and director of marketing in order to update and create digital communications that highlight the department’s programs and services. This position will update UHDS websites, create content for digital communications and also support the production of videos and other digital projects.
The digital media assistant position is a student position in the Marketing, Outreach and Communications unit. The marketing unit is a supportive creative team environment, where the digital media assistant will have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to marketing projects and campaigns for UHDS. This individual must be able to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work creatively within OSU’s brand guidelines.
Starting wage is $16.75 per hour. This position requires in-person attendance.
Position Duties
To meet the objectives of the Marketing, Outreach and Communications unit, the responsibilities and duties of the digital media assistant position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Website and digital screen updates
  • Use Drupal content management system to build, fix and update areas of the UHDS website(s).
  • Help process and track web edits and feedback from department units and UHDS stakeholders.
  • Use Google Analytics to prepare monthly web analytics reports.
  • Assist marketing and communications managers in posting and managing content on UHDS digital screens (located in dining centers and residence halls).
  • Training and ongoing professional development, including Drupal trainings.

Video and digital production
  • Assist in the production of videos, e-newsletters, animations, graphics, and other projects to support UHDS communications.
  • Produce videos, web content and multimedia pieces that effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and audiences across the OSU community.

Team collaboration and other duties
  • Participate in marketing meetings and brainstorm sessions. Attend weekly student staff meeting.
  • Assist with managing projects and files and archive final files appropriately. Follow projects from initiation, to concept, to execution/completion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Experience working with web development, content management, video production and/or photography; experience can be personal, academic (classroom), or professional.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment while also working independently with a high level of self-direction.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Experience living in an on-campus environment.
  • Enrolled in graphic design, new media communications or related degree area of study.
  • Experience with Drupal content management system.
  • Bilingual skills, preferably Spanish language speaker.
  • Commitment to diversity and learning about identities other than your own.
  • Experience working within a brand system.
