Job Description

Under general supervision, plans, organizes and coordinates human trafficking related activities, analyzes materials including data and research materials, writes reports, supports and attends human trafficking related functions and programs in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.

Essential Duties

Research support activities including data entry and analysis, report writing, data collection on site (off-site from ASU) including travel, support other researchers and program coordinators.  All work for this position is related to human trafficking research, training, and services in the community. Research includes working with the ASU STIR team to explore and analyze literature, collect and analyze data, write reports, work directly with community agencies on program evaluation and data collection.  This position will also assist with developing trainings and conferences about human trafficking including conducting public presentations and working with a planning team. 

Will supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff including student workers. Performs tasks related to specific function/program assigned, such as tracking event attendance, development of brochures or other unique projects.  Project development specific to the intersection between criminal justice and human trafficking work with law enforcement including Sheriff’s departments, corrections staff, and community college security and police. 

Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating human trafficking research and event program objectives. Develops and facilitates human trafficking specific workshops, meetings or conferences with high impact on program and/or participants; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications. Provides leadership training and organizational management opportunities through workshops and seminars to targeted groups. Schedules facility and services for use by campus and outside organizations. 

Maintains direct contact with personnel of various outside organizations and university departments associated with scheduled function/program. Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees. Attends seminars, workshops and conferences. Provides assistance and information to faculty, staff and outside organizations regarding human trafficking activities conducted by ASU STIR Office. Serves as a representative of ASU STIR to ensure all aspects of function/program are implemented and controlled according to plans.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in criminal justice, social work, or human rights/social justice preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of human trafficking activities (Events, research) preferred. Knowledge of data collection and analysis using computer software recommended.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Experience in coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Evidence of effective communication including canva.com and excel/SPSS.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Some work is off site setting up tables and distributing materials to the public.  
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
